Q. Where is Alpine Skate Trail located this season?
A. This season Alpine Skate Trail, in it’s original much-loved format, will be returning to Cork City at Tedcastles Yard at Centre Park Road, Cork City (T12 KF6A).
Q. How long does the ice skating session last?
A. Each ice skating session lasts 50 minutes. We advise customers to be on time to ensure they enjoy the entirety of their ice skating experience.
Q. What is the minimum age?
A. We recommend that children aged 3 or older can take part, once they are very solid on their feet. We have special skates with 2 blades and penguin skate aids to help. Unsure? Why not bring them along for a look before purchasing your ticket.
Q. Will there be food and drinks on-site?
A. We will have food and drinks at our ice skating experience this year and we will announce details closer to opening date.
Q. Was Alpine Skate Trail once Cork On Ice?
A. Yes, it was. Cork On Ice opened in 2007 and we had ice rinks in different locations in Cork City up until 2019. After a global pandemic melted our ice for 2 years, we re-opened as a world class ice skating experience, Alpine Skate Trail, in 2021.
Q. Is it real ice?
A. Of course it’s real ice, we are Ireland’s favourite ice skating experiences for a reason. We use ice resurfacers called zambonis to resurface our ice regularly and ensure you get our best ice skating experience possible. We are the Irish partners of Austrian ice rink suppliers AST.
Q. Do I need to stay on site while my kids skate?
A. Any child under the age of 12 needs to be supervised by an adult. You do not have to participate but you must stay on site.
Q. Will there be any ice skating in Fota House & Gardens?
After 3 amazing years in Fota House & Gardens, we made the decision to move our ice skating experience back into Cork City. There will be no ice skating in Fota but Wonderlights will be bringing an award-winning light show experience there. See more information at www.wonderlights.ie.
Q. Where is the ice rink located?
A. Alpine Skate Trail will be located at Tedcastles Yard (the same as Live at the Marquee) on Centre Park Road, Cork City.
Q. Where do I park?
A. We will have free parking for all pre-booked customers, please be ready to show your booking confirmation on arrival. In the unlikely occurrence that our car park is full, there is some on-street parking in the area and paid car parking in Cork City.
Q. How do I get there?
A. Our location is 25 – 30 minutes walk from Cork City’s bus (Parnell Place) and train (Kent) stations. You can check buseireann.ie for up-to-date bus routes.
Q. Do you accept carers’ cards?
A. Visitors with additional needs can bring one accompanying carer (free of charge) when they purchase a ticket. Carers’ tickets can only be purchased in person on arrival at the venue by showing a valid FCI Membership Card. They are not available to purchase online or over the phone.
Q. Do you run ASD friendly sessions?
A. Yes, we do. We have two ASD sessions this season – on 2nd December and 7th January at 3.50pm.
Q. Is the ice skating trail wheelchair accessible?
A. Yes, it is, for both manual and powered wheelchairs.
Q. Do you provide ice skates?
A. Yes, skate rental is included in the ticket price. You can wear your own skates but our ticket prices remain the same.
Q. What skate aids are available?
A. Our penguin skate aids are available for children under 1.2 metres in height and can only be used in the small rink area and cannot be brought on the ice skating trail.
Please pre-book your skate aids in advance to guarantee availability as our skate aids are likely to sell out.
Q. Is there safety equipment available?
A. We advise all skaters to use suitable protective gear, if required. We have a limited supply of safety equipment available at the skate desk so please ask if you require something on arrival.
Q. Do you have lockers?
A. Yes, we have single use lockers on-site. A €2 coin (non-refundable) is required to use them.
Q. Can I cancel or reschedule my tickets?
A. Tickets can be rescheduled 7 or more days prior to your booking via your customer online account. We unfortunately can’t issue credit or refunds once tickets have been purchased but you can gift your tickets to another person.
Q. Is there insurance for the event?
A. Iceskating.ie takes all reasonable care to ensure your comfort and safety, however this is an ice skating trail, where falls are likely to occur. Consequently, we do not accept any liability whatsoever for injuries sustained while ice skating. Use of the facilities is entirely at the user’s own risk and there is no insurance cover for injuries which occur while ice skating.

A. Ice Skating Blanchardstown is situated in Millenium Park, with access to the park behind the Drive-Thru McDonalds. There are also over 600 bus services to Blanchardstown centre every day, visit dublinbus.ie for more info.

A. Those travelling via car can follow signs for the White Car Park (free of charge).
